Love Like Smiles came out of a conversation about the word love and how it is used so differently almost every time we say it. The song walks through two different kinds of love, the first being the kind of love between two lovers. This part tried to capture that morning after vibe when you wake up next to the love of your life. The second kind of love is the love you feel for a family member that becomes especially prominent when that person is dying. The bridge then brings the two together showing that no matter what type of love occurs, it flows through us. Like veins pumping blood back to the heart, love leads us back to the beginning, and back to start.
lyrics
Close your eyes, 'cause if they stay open
I won't look at anything else
Breathe so slowly
Make it last forever
He closed his eyes, oh God why not
Someone else?
He breathed so slowly
If only for a moment
A love like smiles courses through my veins
Brings me back to you
